Robert Guerra contacted me earlier this week concerning the Internet Governance Forum nominations.

He mentioned that he had applied to join the Committee. Having worked with Robert for several years in the context of the CSB, I think that he could bring both his experience acquired in this context of WSIS and his knowledge linked to privacy issues.

Kind regards,
Viola
Endorsed by Maja Andjelkovic, International Institute for Sustainable DevelopmentDear nominating committee members,

I'm writing to express my support for the nomination of Robert Guerra to
the Internet Governance Forum Multistakeholder Advisory Group (IGF MAG).
Over the past four years, I've had the chance to work with Robert
through my involvement in the WSIS youth caucus and Canadian civil
society meetings. Throughout the WSIS process, Robert informally helped
facilitate the work of the youth caucus. In the Geneva phase, his
understanding of the subtleties of the process, familiarity with many of
the matters important to youth, and ability to make connections between
people and issues were particularly valuable; In the Tunis phase, he
helped build understanding of internet governance topics within the
youth caucus and Canadian civil society. In the North-American context,
he has successfully worked with NGOs, individuals and the Canadian
government on information security and privacy issues, among others.
Robert has demonstrated a strong personal commitment to ensuring
meaningful civil society participation in the WSIS process and would
make a valuable addition to the IGF MAG.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.

Sincerely,

Maja

Why the (self)nominee is a good choice for the IGF Robert Guerra has followed the WSIS process closely, attending both the Geneva conference in 2003 and in Tunisia in 2005 and has extensive experience in Internet security, secure communications and many issues surrounding the Information Society. He also attended the Prepcoms and several side conferences and symposiums including the International Symposium on the Information Society, Human Rights and Human Dignity Geneva 2003. He has much experience consulting with NGOs in North America, Canadian Civil Society and the Canadian government which gives him a unique perspective and a distinct set of skills. Robert is also multi-lingual, a definitive asset.
Capacity to serve on MAGMonsieur Guerra is quite willing and eager to participate.
CommentsAdditional workload: There is no doubt in my mind that Monsieur Guerra would be able to handle the heavy workload of the Civil Society Internet Governance Caucus' (IGC's) IGF Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Group (IGF-MAG). I have personally attended conferences and symposiums with him where many documents had to be drafted and work completed: Monsieur Guerra often worked through the night, as well as being a devoted attendee to all meetings. He is adept at networking and bringing together the right people.
